FAQs
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Air duct cleaning refers to cleaning the inside of an office ventilation system. The air ducts come in a variety of sizes and materials and span throughout the building, delivering heating and cooling, year-round. Commercial air duct cleaning specializes in the unique needs of commercial properties, which typically have larger, more complex HVAC systems than residential properties.
Air duct cleaning companies generally do not clean your furnace and air conditioning coils. Most do not even have the equipment or training to do so. Some companies that do address coil cleaning just wipe off the surface and hope you won’t notice. We not only thoroughly clean your air conditioning coils we do it for no extra charge as part of our service.
Your coil sits behind a filter and looks a lot like a radiator which air passes through. Eventually, dirt and grime clog the coil. This causes the air conditioning unit to run less efficiently using more energy. This places more pressure on the system causing mechanical breakdowns.
In NY a residential air handler is the furnace or heat pump located inside the house. In commercial buildings, the air handler can be on the roof or in a mechanical room. The air handler consists of the Evaporator coil, the blower, the drain pans, the heat exchangers, the filters, the burners, and all the electrical components. All the components of an air handler need to be cleaned regularly to ensure safety, performance, and indoor air quality
The National Air Duct Cleaners Association was formed in 1989 to institute industry standards and credentialing programs for the HVAC industry. The need for industry standards was addressed in 1992 with the adoption of performance-based standards that Better Air Quality works to not only meet but also exceed. Better Air Quality is one of the founding members and we continue to work tirelessly to aid in NADCA’s mission.
All our professional HVAC cleaners have had training that exceeds NADCA standards. Most of our technicians have been with Better Air Quality for over 10 years! Additionally, our technicians are licensed to handle and recover refrigerants according to EPA regulations. This special training allows us to provide evaporator coil cleaning services because these units are sensitive and can leak refrigerants into the air. They require a qualified technician to even attempt the job.
